Chirton Primary

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement.

These include pupils who have been entitled to free school meals at any point in the past six years, those looked after by the Local Authority and the children of armed service personnel.

For more details on Pupil Premium, please visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/pupil-premium/pupil-premium Please contact the school if you feel that you may qualify for Pupil Premium

All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how this is being used and the impact.

The Pupil Premium funding is used as follows:

  • Additional time with a teaching assistant in class, either individually or as part of a group, in order to provide support to make the expected progress in their learning;
  • Participation in intervention programmes out of class, organised by the SEN Manager, e.g. spelling, reading, social skills;
  • To provide one-to-one tuition for some pupils;
  • To provide experiences and enrichment activities in order to broaden horizons, e.g. residential visits, theatre trips, music lessons;
  • Extra support to facilitate emotional development and build confidence and self-esteem;
  • Extra learning resources and training to support the delivery of intervention programmes.

The progress and attainment for individual children is tracked and monitored carefully to ensure they achieve their full potential.
