Swimming

The National Curriculum requires that schools:

.......provide swimming instruction either in KS1 or KS2.

In particular, pupils should be taught to:

  • swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m
  • use a range of strokes effectively, e.g. front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke
  • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

All KS2 children swim for a minimum of 10 weeks at The Pewsey Vale Community Campus each academic year; the next swimming block will begin in January 27.

Y6 25/26 Swimming outcomes:

85% of our Y6 children swam competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.

85% of our Y6 children used a range of strokes effectively and could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
